Flint Expands

Flint River Communications began in 1981 under the name Flint Cable Television where they offered basic cable services to customers residing in the areas of Butler, Reynolds and Roberta Georgia. Poised for growth in 1985, Flint River Communications acquired a cable system in Buena Vista, followed by systems in Yatesville and Culloden Georgia in 1993. A new phase of expansion began in 2006 with Flint’s digital service offerings that allowed for up to a 68 channel capacity. These digital services were delivered to its most densely populated markets in Rural Georgia.

After bringing the latest digital technology to the area, Flint’s goals were to competitively price and package their new service offerings thus making it accessible to everyone. The new Digital Basic Service offered customers 113 channels with the option to purchase additional multi-channel line-ups called “Tiers” and “Movie Paks” consisting of premium movie channels to create their own entertainment viewing preferences. Flint River continues to offer its traditional cable services like the Expanded Basic Cable package but incorporated many new channels to the lineup. The Basic Cable package provides a limited lineup of news and information channels, plus local network affiliates.

Flint Stimulus

In 2010, Flint River Communications was awarded a stimulus grant and loan to provide a Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) network to homes in the underserved areas of Culloden, Yatesville, and Southern Crawford County Georgia allowing for real technological growth in each of these underserved areas. This funding has allowed Flint River Communications to provide a triple-play service that includes high speed internet, VoIP phone services (Voice over Internet Protocol) and expanded cable channels.

A New Name

On May 15, 2013 Flint Cable Television officially changed their name to Flint Cable Television d/b/a Flint River Communications as a part of their strategic rebranding effort. This change was implemented to better align their corporate brand identity with their reputation as a leading broadband communications provider.

Flint River Communications is a subsidiary of Public Service Communications headquartered in Reynolds, Georgia which is a privately owned corporation that has provided customers with telecommunication services for over 100 years. As a provider of entertainment, information and communications services, they offer unlimited high speed internet service, unlimited telephone service, cable television and broadband internet service to both residential and commercial customers.
